LHS swim team notches another qualification for state at Evanston

LYMAN — The LHS Eagle swimmers competed last Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Evanston Invite against five other teams, which included host Evanston, Green River, Kemmerer, Rock Springs and Sublette County.

Green River took first with a score of 384 points. They were followed by Evanston in second place with 280 points.

At this meet, the LHS girls 200 Free relay made the score to be qualified to swim at state This team includes Emmalee Allen (SR), Brookelyn Rasmussen (SR),Eliza Roitz (FR), Morgan Kertz (SR).

Ketz also qualified earlier this season in the 200 Free and the 500 Free. Another LHS swimmer, Rasmussen is qualified in the 500 Free. There are two LHS relay teams, which qualified earlier for state competition. The 200 Medley relay includes Hayden Hewitt (FR), Roitz, Allen and Rasmussen. Lyman’s 400 Free relay is also qualified and includes Allen, Jillian Huntsman (SR), Hewitt and Kertz.

Results of LHS swimmers in the top five follow.

Hewitt took second in the 200 IM in Evanston, about 12 seconds off of the first place mark of Amelia Despain of Kemmerer. She was followed by teammate Kertz who too third in this event. In the 100 Fly, Allen took fourth place, and Roitz took fifth in the 100 Breaststroke.

Lyman’s 400 Free relay team took second place.

Lyman also competed last Friday at Big Piney in the Sublette County Triangular, which also included Kemmerer. The scores for this meet were Sublette County 102 Lyman 71; Kemmerer 101 vs Sublette County 84; Kemmerer 102 vs Lyman 75.
