LHS swimmers set to prove at conference

Posted

LYMAN — The LHS Lady Eagles, who earn their scores in the water, will compete today and tomorrow at the conference meet in Lander.

Several of the swimmers have already qualified for the state meet, which will be held Nov. 1-3 in Laramie.

The Lady Eagles competed at the Laramie pre-invite last week on Friday and hit the water at the invite Saturday, according to Hal Busskohl, parent volunteer.

“The Lady Eagles placed ninth overall as a team, and second in 3A schools scoring 170.5.” Busskohl said earlier this week. “Lander the only 3A team out scoring the Eagle swimmers with a team score of 215. The rest of the teams at the meet were 4A powerhouses of the sport.”

As for this week’s meet and the upcoming regionals, these are the last chances for the girls to qualify for the state meet in November. Busskohl did say the non-qualifiers would have a meet on Oct. 25, in Lyman as the finishing touch to their season.

The Eagles started their meet last Saturday with a fifth place finish in their 200 medley relay, lead off by Harper Hewitt, Brynlee Busskohl, Brooklyn Busskohl and anchored by Samantha Weston. This put them in first place of all the 3A teams at the meet.
