LARAMIE — UnIversity of Wyoming student Kira Walk (Kira Dawn on stage) of Lyman was this year’s grand prize winner of Wyoming Singer/Songwriter competition.

Finalist qualifiers competed at Ten Sleep via qualifying rounds all around the state of Wyoming. Dawn won over $6,000 in prize money including the grand prize of $5,000 donated by Wyoming Whiskey. This was the sixth annual Wyoming competition and was held Aug. 31-Sept. 3.

Dawn was also awarded numerous slots in music festivals around Wyoming and Colorado, as well as a full 8-hour recording session. Her single ‘Strait and Narrow’ was selected as the top song, and another song – ‘Ghost Town’ tied for third. That song is available on Spotify and other streaming services.

Dawn was also picked the winner by the audience.

Second place was captured by Henry Pepin with his ‘Lipstick on a Pig,’ and third by Rob Weimann with his ‘Hourglass.’ Both had previously competed in this event.
