WINNEMUCCA, Nev — Hunter Maxfield is the Bull Rider Champion again this year at SSIR in Junior High Division and won two more buckles and saddle at the rodeo.
The SSIR (Silver State International Rodeo), which includes 20 different US states, Australia and Canada.
Maxfield will be an eighth grader at Lyman Intermediate School in the fall.
He also won second in his District in bulls and first in bareback . He tied for second at state in the bareback which qualified him for Nationals in bareback. When Maxfield didn’t place at Nationals the family left Huron, S.D. and stopped in Evanston for Evanston Rodeo Series where he rode the steers and won there. The next stop was Winnemucca, Nev., where Maxfield competed in the SSIR.
Maxfield is the son of Darius and Connie Maxfield and is the fourth child of nine children. He learned to ride from his big brother, Garrett, who ended up second in the bulls at SSIR in High School Division.
Maxfield said he thanked his many sponsors who have helped him along the way.
