MOUNTAIN VIEW — Coming off of a large scoring win over the Pinedale Wranglers, the MVHS Buffalos, were up-and-running to take on the Big Piney Punchers last Friday, notching another win, 37-21.
Today the Buffalos go up against the Thermopolis Bobcats on the Bobcat turf and are slated to host the Lyman Eagles next week as this year’s season winds down before the first playoff game on Oct. 30. The Buffalos cinched their shot in a playoff game last week with their win over the Punchers. The Buffs claim a 5-0 conference record.
Currently Mountain View and Lyman are considered to be at the top f the 2A West. Mountain View has no conference losses, and Lyman has one. Lyman’s shot at a play off game is contingent on how the rest of the season plays out, Big Piney now has a 3-2 conference record after falling to the Buffs on the Buffalos gridiron. Cokeville and Lovell also have 3-2 conference records.
In the latest WyoPreps coaches and media polls, the Buffs continue to hold the #1 spot with Lyman in second position Upton-Sundance and Torrington No. 3 and No.4.
Mountain View set the stage for their win in the first five minutes of the game as Bryson Walker received a pass from QB Connor Micheli and headed downfield, making a 66 yard run into the end zone for a TD, putting the Buffs on the board. It was followed by a PAT by kicker Teancum Piekkola to put the extra point on the board so the Buffs led, 7-0.
In the fourth quarter, Micheli sent the ball into the end zone which was caught by Schofield. Another TD and PAT to raise the Buffs score. 37-14.
The Punchers were able to hold the Buffs and were able add another touchdown and point after to make the final score 37-21.
