GILLETTE — Wyoming State High School Boys Indoor Track & Field Championships were held at Gillette on last Saturday, Feb. 27.
Sheriday 3-peated as the state team champion with 142 points, followed by Cheyenne Central with 67. Mountain View was in the middle of the group of 22 schools at the meet. Douglas was on the bottom with 2 points.
Sheridan’s Ryan Karajanis won the pole vault for the second year in a row and Carter McComb won the 200-meter dash, but those were the only individual gold medalists for the Broncs.
And as expected, Peter Visser, outstanding runner of Star Valley was the top one in both the 1600 and 3200, and actually took the title in both the second year in a row.
Mountain View Tanner Ericson turned in an exceptional time in the 1600 and came in eight out of a large field of runners with a time of 4:50.96.
The MVHS 1600 sprint medley team – Morgan Kellum, Wyatt Jensen, Tayden Bell and Tanner Erickson, took fourth.
Power thrower Tel Malone of Mountain View has done well all season. He took fourth place with a throw for 50-03.25 feet.
Tayden Bell, a sprinter for MVHS took seventh in the 400 M Dash with a time of 53.03.
The girls state meet is scheduled for tomorrow in Gillette.
