BRIDGER VALLEY — When you’re hot, you’re hot and both varsity volleyball teams in Bridger Valley are proving they are hot as they continue to rack up wins on the court.
Going into play this week, week three of the season, Mountain View has the best record overall of the 3A conference with a 17-1 overall. Lyman is close on the Lady Buffs heels with the second best, 17-2. And of course, due to their wins, they are also listed as #1 and #2 in the 3A SW Quad. Pinedale comes in at third with a 9-6-2 record and Kemmerer in fourth with an 8-10-1 record. The closest record to which these teams have earned goes to 3A NW Lander with a Lander 11-1-2 record.
Both Mountain View and Lyman competed in tournament play recently at the Rawlins Invite. And true to their records, they went up for first and second in the semi finals in the gold bracket. Mountain View took this match in three, 21-8, 14-21, 15-11. This game sent the Lady Buffalos into the championship game where they took on the Lady Tigers of Lander. Mountain View nailed this game also in two sets, 21-16, 21-19.
The loss to Mountain View by the Lady Eagles put Lyman in the consolation game where they beat Buffalo in two, 21-7, 21-17.
Driving their play to the championship game, the MVHS volleyball team took on Big Piney and then Powell, winning both in three. The game against Powell was much closer than the one against Big Piney. The Lady Buffs then went up against Douglas, winning in two. The semi final game between Mountain View and Lyman gave Mountain View the edge to play for the championship.
As for the Lyman Lady Eagles, they also proved their power as they competed in Rawlins taking third place over Buffalo. Leading up to the consolation game, the Lady Eagles played Rich County, Utah, winning in three. Next up in pool play, Lyman took on Worland, Wheatland and Buffalo, winning each game in two. This sent them to the semi final game against Mountain View where they lost in three and on to the consolation game against Buffalo in which they won in two, 21-11, 21-11.
