BRIDGER VALLEY — Two Bridger Valley athletes have again been tapped for All State honors after racing through the regular season and showing they have the talent and ability to compete with the top runners from around the state.
Kaleigh Douglass has continued to race in the front for the Lyman Eagles and add points to the team’s score as has Travis Harmon for the Mountain View Buffalos. Both have been top cross country runners for their respective teams.
Both were one of 10 selected for each of the boys team and girls team from all of the 3A runners statewide.
These honors come on the heels of both teams competing at the state cross country meet last week, Oct. 21-21, at Sheridan.
Star Valley, as expected, took first place honors for the mens teams. They repeat as 6-peat champs. Cody and Worland took second and third with Mountain View taking fourth. Mountain View’s Harmon, a sophomore, took fourth and was close on the heels of the first three places with only about 20 seconds behind the time Wetzel turned in for first place.
Although the Mountain View ladies and the Lyman teams didn’t score as high, they all had runners who excelled at the meet. Coaches from both districts were emphatic about the quality of their athletes on their teams.
The first runner in the guys to cross the finish line for the Lyman Eagles was Jesse Fanos, a freshman, at a respectable 34th place, less than two minutes off of the first place time.
Douglass, a senior, claimed ninth place when she crossed the finish line out of a field of 91 runners. Charity Harmon was the first to cross the line for the Buffalos, claiming 24th place.
