EVANSTON — David E. Burnside, 77, died Nov. 2, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family by his side!

He was born in Kenilworth, Utah; on Dec. 4,1945 to Ed and Erma Burnside. This is where he lived and grew up until he met and married the love of his life, Sandra Kay (Blair) on Oct. 15, 1965. They made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah; until 1972 when they moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming. They then moved to Lyman, Wyoming; until 1984, and finally to Mountain View, Wyoming, where they made their permanent home.

Dave worked in the trona mines from 1971 until he retired in 2008 from Solvay Chemicals. Dave was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He loved nothing more than spending time with all his family and friends.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and pretty much anything outdoors. He loved to socialize, tease and make everyone laugh. He would do anything for anyone including strangers. – He will always be known for saying, "I can hear you smiling!"

During Christmas time, Dave would play Santa Claus for Solvay and all the other families. Either Corinna or Sandra would go to be one of Santa's elves.

Dave was always willing to give Sandra a helping hand with cooking Sunday dinners, holiday dinners, making pumpkin pies, fruit cakes, pineapple upside down cakes, cleaning, shopping or pretty much anything you could think of, but laundry was absolutely out of the question. Sandra always said," He can never do it right!"

Year after year he loved helping kids, grandkids and then great grandkids carve their pumpkins on Halloween and dye their Easter eggs every Easter! He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Burnside; his parents, Ed and Erma Burnside, Stepdad Harley Corder; in-laws, William and Agnus Blair; brother-in-law, Dean Blair, Bob McCracken; sister-in-laws: Peggy Blair, Patsy Applegate, Joyce Clark and Marie Blair.

He is survived by his daughter, Corinna (Perry) Byrne; son, Leon (Elizabeth) Burnside; brothers: Jim (Diane) Burnside, Mike (Diane) Burnside, Tom (Ann) Burnside; sister, Beth McCracken; brother-in-law: Rickie Blair; sisters-in-law: Evelyn (Roy) Kenter, Sherry (Steve) Hutto; four grandchildren: Christopher (Dynee) Doan; Krislynn (Bobby) Landry, Trent Burnside, Devon Burnside; nine great-grandchildren, as well as, many nieces and nephews.

According to his wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Mountain View LDS Church, 116 4th Street, Mountain View, Wyoming. A luncheon will be served afterwards.
