EVANSTON — It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our beloved Shannon Joe Moore, a pillar of strength and a source of boundless love, on Nov. 9, 2023.
Although we will miss him terribly, Joe had a much-awaited reunion to attend, reuniting with his wife and the love of his life, Trudy Marlette Dayton.
Joe was born in Twin Falls, Idaho; on Feb. 19, 1952. He graduated from Cokeville High School in Cokeville, Wyoming. This is also the place where he met the love of his life. Joe and Trudy married on July 2, 1974, and were later sealed for time and all eternity at Jordan River Temple on Nov. 13, 1982. They were married for over 40 years when she left us in 2015; the reunion must have been wonderful.
Joe had a quiet and gentle, yet strong presence. He loved his family deeply, and his generosity had no limits. Joe's legacy is one marked by devotion to family, unwavering faith and a passion for the great outdoors. In his spare time, he loved taking his dog out on adventures in his side-by-side, cooking his famous hearty breakfasts and going to all of his many grandkids’ events. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was very close to his heart. He was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and served in many roles in the church throughout the years.
One of Joe’s greatest joys in life was found in the simplicity of nature. He had an insatiable love for the outdoors, whether it was hunting in the quiet woods, casting a line into a serene lake, riding along the trails, setting up camp under the stars or enjoying the thrill of the shooting range. His connection with the natural world was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and a source of immeasurable joy.
We hope he is doing that now with his wife, his mom, dad, sister and brothers who surely welcomed him to heaven with open arms.
Joe is survived by his four children: Liberty Dawn Heaton (Nathan Heaton), Dustin Joe Moore (Misty Moore), Jared Milo Moore and Caleb Levi Moore (Hope Moore); 12 grandchildren: Makita, Raven, Braxton, Sadee, Hazley, Jagger, Tayzer, Zander, Tymber, Harbor, Havyk and Salem; and his brother, Steven Moore.
The family will gather for a private burial and host a celebration of life this coming summer. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests buying a toy for a loved one or a ball for your pet, anything to share the joy of life with those you love.
