BRIDGER VALLEY — The powers that seem to know are already projecting the 2019 2A football championship battle will again be between the Buffalo Bison and the Mountain View Buffalos.
This information was recently released by both MaxPreps and the Wyoming High School Football Blog. According to Max Preps on Aug. 11, the Bison was projected to take the top slot like they did last year after they played in the 2A conference. In both 2016 and 2017, the Bison completed in the 3A on the gridiron. MaxPreps also projected the Glenrock Herders would claim the #3 sport and the Wheatland Bulldogs would claim fourth place.
The Lyman Eagles were projected to be near the bottom of the conference in the #12 spot, followed by Newcastle at 13 and Lovell at 14.
According to the WHS Football Blog earlier this month, the Bison had “several things going for them – their size (biggest school in 2A), their talent, and their recent experience against bigger 3A programs. And during the championship game last year, the Bison routed the Buffalos and laid claim to the title with a score of 43-18. This year the football blog went out on a limb and gave the nod to the MVHS Buffalos with a 2=point edge over the Buffalo Bison for the final score of the final game of the season at UW.
But there are games and more games to be played in the conference before anyone gets a look at how the championship game will play out at UW in mid-November. Predictions can be made, but the actual play during the season could bring the predictions tumbling down.
