LHS girls swim team earned top scores at regional swim meet

RIVERTON — The LHS Lady Eagles scored in the water and on the bank at the 3A West regionals last weekend in Riverton.
The Eagles competed against Kemmerer, Lander, Powell, Riverton and Sublette County, earning top notches in what it takes to win.
Powell won the team championship with 307 points. Lander 277, and Lyman pulled into third with 219. The other teams followed with Sublette County next with 203, Riverton 139 and Kemmerer 72. Three conference records were set at the meet.
Top recognition for a top swimmer as LHS’ Brynlee Busskohl was named the Athlete of the Meet and Year.
Also on tap for top honors, Rebecca Weston, LHS coach, was named a Co-Coach of the Year, along with Amanda Aimone of Kemmerer.
Heather Christensen of Powell was named the Assistant Coach of the Year.
Four of the LHS girls swim team achieved All Conference honors. They were Harper Hewitt, Sam Weston, Brooklyn Busskohl and Brynlee Busskohl.
The team will compete at the state meet next weekend in Gillette.
In summing up the scores of the LHS girls swim team at the 3A West conference meet, parent volunteer Hal Busskohl said, “Couldn’t be more proud of these girls.”
The Eagles 200 medley relay team – Harper Hewitt, Brynlee Busskohl, Brooklyn Busskohl, Sam Weston – took first place and set a new conference record.
In other races, Lady Eagles continued to take first and set records. The results of the team at the regional meet follow.
