Posted

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The MVHS track athletes went up against a bevy of schools and tough athletes last Saturday, April 16, at the Ted Schroeder "Meet Of Hope" Invitational at Rock Springs.

As in the past, the MVHS tracksters proved they are a team with which to be reckoned. Although powerhouse host school, the Rock Springs Tigers dominated both the girls and the boys teams, the two MVHS teams took fourth place, overall. Rock Springs nailed first with 233 points, followed by Pinedale with 116. The MVHS ladies racked up 47 points for fifth place.

The other teams who competed at the meet included Evanston, Big Piney, Farson-Eden, H.E.M. and Saratoga.

In the men’s competition, the Tigers were again the runaway winner with 282 points, followed by Evanston in second with 112 points. The MVHS Buffs earned 89 points to claim third place.

The MVHS team competed in Evanston Wednesday, again in Green River today and at the large High School Track Pocket Change meet tomorrow in Morgan, Utah. Evanston played host to Lyman Mountain View, Big Piney and Kemmerer. Results from the Evanston meet were posted Thursday morning during production, and a wrap-up follows.

Results for Evanston showed MVHS sprinter Kensy Kellum taking second in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Meisha Lawrence also took sixth in the 100. Lawrence also turned in a time for fifth place in the 400 meter. She was bested by teammate Emilee Benedict who took fourth. Lawrence also took fifth in the pole vault.

Distance runner Charity Harmon continued to add first places to her tally as she took first in the 1600.
