MOUNTAIN VIEW — Week 5 and counting – The MVHS Buffalos continue their march to what will most likely be a play-off at the 2A state championship football game next month.
Adding to the scale was MVHS’ Homecoming football game last Friday, Oct. 4 in Mountain View before a stadium full of hometown fans.
This week the Buffalos will compete against the Lyman Eagles on the Eagles gridiron for Lyman’s Homecoming game.
As for the 2A West, Mountain View is at the top of the pack with an overall record of 5-0 and a conference record of 3-0. And as predicted, Buffalo is the top of the East with a 5-0, 4-0 record. With the latest WyoPreps coach and media poll released Wednesday, Mountain View still has Buffalo edged out as the #1 in the 2A conference, receiving 153 points to Buffalo’s 144. Big Pine made the jump to third with a distant 75 points.
In last Friday’s game, Mountain View held the Pinedale Wranglers to 3-downs and punt following a big loss on the third for a fourth and 22 on the first possession of the game. Then the Buffs were up-and-running as they raced up the field, and Kimball Madsen ran up the middle and carried the ball in for a TD within about 3.5 minutes of the start of the game. And, true to form, kicker Teancum Piekkola, sailed the ball between the goal posts for the PAT.
Between the Buffalos offense adding points to the game and the defense keeping Pinedale from making any progress down the field, the score was lopsided in the second at 35-0 and by the end of the first half, 40-0.
Back on the field after the half time, the Buffs again scored another touchdown and PAT. This time, in response, the Wranglers were able to execute a touchdown with the ball carried in by Ziegler Konner, giving the Wranglers their first points on the board. The Wranglers tried for a 2-point conversion, but couldn’t make the play. The score was 55-6 with this score by Pinedale.
